moan moan moan snow moan

Horrible moany blog post, probably best ignored!

I hate the snow, hate it. All our plans are getting cancelled and I'm stuck home with 2 kids and a husband who are seriously getting on my nerves.
Izzy is meant to go to Paul's company kids Christmas party today in London, Paul has dug the car out and gone off to see how the roads are, he left 90 minutes ago and is about 3 miles away stuck in traffic, the whole town is grid locked, its looking like they won't be able to go to the party.
The kids are waking really stupidly early, before 6am today, Paul can sleep through it, I can't so I'm not getting enough sleep and nor are they so the fight, constantly.
I've also just noticed that Isobel doesn't sit still, ever, she's watching tv in the room with me now and is just jumping up and down, its really annoying.

I've done lots of ironing and changing the bed today, everyone else seems to be doing their best to undo all the housework I've done. George (I think) has managed to get a mystery substance (actually I'm pretty sure I know what it is but its best not to share) on every stair, we have a sissel type carpet with a very deep weave, I have no idea how I'm going to get it off, Paul was going to do it but I know that I will end up doing it.

I'm really very miserable!

The scale was ok, 14st 13lbs (209) again, I wasn't too bad yesterday but still not doing as well as I ought, the cookies are killing me! Been ok so far today but its not even 1pm yet! Seems to be late afternoon/evening when I go mad.

I just googled and apparently 1 hours ironing burns 156 calories based on a person weighing 150 lbs, I did about 2 hours and weigh more than 150! I can't see how its true but this will be classed as my exercise for today!

Going to go and stare at my stairs! Have a good monday!

  1. Alison - my kids were not any better this morning - and being that my nerves are on edge with my surgery today it is not easy. So my husband says - I am shaved and just need to shower and will be ready to go. . . I said that's very nice - I have been putting away the dishes and unloading the groceries (I use this online service called Peapod that delivers groceries - costs $7.00 extra but saves me a ton not being in the store). No wonder I have gained all this weight not being able to focus on me - that is all going to change!

  2. Alison, I know how you feel my kids are constantly beating up on each other and fighting. They are home through the Christmas holiday and I wonder if my house will survive. My husband only works until Wednesday and then he is off until the 4th. I luckily will still be going to work. Thank god! I would be nutso if I tried to handle that! I totally think the the ironing counts, but I am a weird one and love to iron!

  3. I'm sorry that I cannot offer any advice. I live by the beach & we don't do snow. IF it snowed here, Im sure the impact would be much like yours. Chin up!

  6. So sorry!!! My kids are behaving the same way. I swear it has something to do with Christmas. My daughter is 5 and she can't sit still either. I think it's the age. You have it worse though...being snowed in and all. Hang in there!

  7. I've got lots of friends across the pond and seems everyone's had enough of this snow. My mom has friends with kids in uni over there and they're stuck because heathrow was closed over the weekend and don't even know if they'll now make it home for Christmas! Unreal to see the amount of snow. Take some pics and post them for those of us who can only live vicariously

  8. Oh Alison,
I sure hope things pick up for you in the next few days. My crazy friend has just landed in London today after being stuck in Bangkok for 3 days. Not sure why she would want to leave our fabulous summer days to visit the snow.
Take Care and have a great Christmas. Thanks for all your wonderful comments.

  9. We haven't had snow yet (it's actually supposed to get up to 80 today!) but I can definitely understand the kids-fighting thing. Mine have been beating each other up and just basically screaming about nothing for days now. It's driving me up the wall! I can't really scream because it hurts, so I just have to deal with it. :'(
